Claire

Licensed Dental Hygienist

Claire graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne’s dental hygiene program in 2016. She started her hygiene career working at the office with the late Dr. Tim Weeks after graduation. She began working with Dr. Austgen in 2018 and is proud to call Austgen Family Dental her work home. Her favorite part about her career is getting to know her patients and educating them about their oral health. When not taking care of patients, she is most likely baking chocolate chip cookies and spending time with her husband Jimmy and their two sons, Emmett and Dean.

Joan

Licensed Dental Hygienist

Joan graduated from IUPUI/IUSD in 2001 with an associates degree in Dental Hygiene. She returned to IUSD in 2011 to complete her local anesthesia competency training. Joan joined Austgen Family Dental 2021. She enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients and loves being a part of positive transformations in their oral health. Joan is proud to be married to her husband, Mark who is a retired police officer with IMPD and they have one daughter, Elise. When Joan is away from the office, she and her husband are busy at work on their family farm.

Shelby

Treatment / Financial Coordinator

Shelby joined our team in July of 2020 as our Financial Coordinator. She attended Ivy Tech Community College of Indianapolis and started her dental career in 2007. Shelby really enjoys the fun, positive and team-oriented environment that Dr. Austgen provides at Austgen Family Dental. In her spare time, she loves watching movies, baking and spending time with her family. Shelby and her husband, Andrew have been married since 2011 and have two children.

Samantha

Concierge / Scheduling Coordinator

Samantha began her dental career as a Hygiene Coordinator in April 2016 for Weeks Dentistry and has happily continued on with the practice through its transition into Austgen Family Dental in February of 2018. She attended high school at Indian Creek of Trafalgar, Indiana and completed multiple business courses on goals, prosperity and growth of small businesses at IUPUC and continuing education online via Kaplan University. Samantha’s most enjoyable times at AFD are working with a strong and confident group of team members who strive for patient wellness and community growth. Preserving our environment, supporting local Humane Societies, traveling and playing her Viola are amongst her most favorite pastimes.

Jessica

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Jessica graduated from Kaplan College in 2011 and went on to receive her Expanded Functions certification from Indiana University later that same year. She joined our team in February 2023. She really enjoys having the opportunity to make lasting connections with her co-workers and patients alike. Jessica and her husband, Stephen were married in 2019 and share 4 wonderful children together. Stephen is an Army veteran who currently works in the business world as a supply chain supervisor. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and attending concerts.

Christian

Dental Assistant

Christian graduated from the Franklin Dental Assisting Program in 2023. Shortly after, she joined the AFD team and continues her education each day. She enjoys being surrounded by a very positive and encouraging team of women! Christian loves the opportunity to connect with patients, and create a judge free environment. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her fiance and their family-like group of friends. Christian specifically enjoys the outdoors, out on the lake with a fishing pole.
